(Sacramento, CA) — Some of California’s Republican leaders are urging Democrats to take real action to lower gas prices. Assemblyman James Gallagher is leading the charge, reiterating serious concerns with the way gas prices are impacting California families.
Gallagher is also circulating a petition to measure voter interest in suspending the gas tax and stopping the governor’s new tax increase proposal. Newsom has called for a special session on December 5th to discuss a windfall tax on oil companies. In California, drivers are paying an average of six-dollars and 24-cents a gallon of regular unleaded.
In a letter to Governor Newsom and Democrats, Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher is requesting them to reconsider suspending the gas tax.
Gallagher believes gas prices are higher in California because of the taxes, fees and regulations passed by the Democrat super-majority.
