Embattled Los Angeles City Councilman Kevin De Leon suddenly entered – then left – his first public meeting in two months after getting an angry reception. Council President Paul Krekorian sent Friday’s session into recess when de Leon arrived to angry shouts. When it resumed, de Leon was gone. Protestors and many council members want de Leon to leave for good. Outgoing Councilman Mike Bonin called him a “vile racist”. Bonin’s adopted Black son was one of the targets of the racist remarks made by de Leon’s and others on a leaked tape.
The highlight of the meeting was (as heard on the John Phillips Show , hosted today by Randy Wang) a citizen serenading the council members with his homemade Ode to the Unhoused. Listen and enjoy.
