(New York, NY) — A former top FBI official, who was involved in the discredited “Russiagate” probe is in custody over connections to a Russian oligarch. ABC News reports Charles McGonigal was arrested Saturday when he arrived at JFK Airport. The former special agent in charge of counterintelligence at the agency’s New York Field Office –who was deeply involved in the fabricated case against Donald Trump–faces a charge of violating U.S. sanctions. He allegedly attempted to get a Russian billionaire who had been sanctioned by the U.S. off the sanctions list. McGonigal retired from the FBI in 2018. Read more here:
