New Survey Concludes Los Angeles Homeless Population Has Increased 18%

(Los Angeles, CA) — Last year the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority conducted a three-day count of the city’s homeless population and concluded the number to be 69-thousand-114. About a thousand volunteers have spread out over the region again today for another three-day observation. But the Rand Corporation takes a different tack by surveying three highly populated areas over a year to come up with trends. Rand’s latest survey of Skid Row, Hollywood, and Venice shows an average increase of 18-percent from September 2021 through October 2022. The City’s result over the same period of time showed only a four percent increase.
