Newsom picks yet another fight.

(Sacramento, CA) — Governor Gavin Newsom is firing back at the Fresno County District Attorney’s critical statement following the death of a Selma police officer.
District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp called out Newsom and lawmakers on their failure to hold criminals accountable, saying every legislator in the state “has the blood of this officer on their hands.” Officer Gonzalo Carrasco Jr. was killed Tuesday while checking on a suspicious person. Authorities say that suspect Nathaniel Dixon was out of prison early on probation due to the policy mentioned by Smittcamp.
Governor Gavin Newsom says District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp could have prosecuted the case differently and gotten a longer sentence for Dixon.
