(Washington, DC) — A new report says hundreds of thousands of migrants who crossed the southern border have been released in the U.S. without being charged or provided a court date. NBC News reports close to 600-thousand “asylum seekers” –roughly the same number as the population of Las Vegas– were released without charging documents or a court date since March 2021. Lawyers say this has left many migrants in legal limbo without a court date to determine whether they can legally stay in the U.S. The report comes during a surge of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border and increased scrutiny over the Biden administration’s immigration policies.
