(Washington, DC) — The three unidentified flying objects shot down in the U.S. and Canada may be tied to “benign” commercial or research efforts. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that’s what U.S. intelligence agencies are considering as a potential explanation. However, she emphasized it won’t be clear what the objects are or where they came from until the debris is recovered. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said earlier investigators hadn’t yet found any evidence the three objects were connected to China’s balloon surveillance program. Recovery units are currently trying to retrieve the objects, but have yet to reach them as they were shot down in remote, hard to reach areas.
