(Carlsbad, CA) — Parents are divided over a newly approved ”Ethnic Film Class” in the Carlsbad School District. They spoke out at the school board meeting Wednesday night. At this point, the board only approved the class, not yet the curriculum. It’s expected to include topics like understanding identity, race, ethnicity, intersectionality, culture and racism, and Hollywood’s representation of stereotypes and their impacts. The community will be asked for input as the board assesses curriculum for the fall.
