Caruso on Bass’ homeless hotels:

Rick Caruso: “I’m not quite sure we can do anything that’s dumber than that.”

Billionaire businessman, philanthropist and former LA mayoral Candidate Rick Caruso is unequivocal when he hears about the various homeless hotel schemes, including those touted by Mayor Karen Bass this past week.  “If you want to destroy the hotel industry in Los Angeles, start doing that. It just makes no sense at all, we need to build affordable housing, we need to build housing for the homeless.”

Bass made a campaign promise of aiming to house a total of 17-thousand homeless people by the time she reaches one year in office. About 250 people are expected to be moved off Skid Row and into the L-A Grand Hotel over the next few weeks.

Caruso was a guest on Mottek on Money heard afternoons Monday through Friday at 6 on 790 KABC.
