Another Sign That California Has Lost Its Mind: Bay Area Banning Gas Water Heaters And Furnaces.

(San Francisco, CA) — The Bay Area Air Quality Management District voted to enact a ban of gas furnaces and water heaters. They say the cost would be around eight-thousand dollars for a heat pump and three thousand for an electric water heater. They used a study from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory with data from fifteen states. But some homeowners and groups have disputed these numbers with regional data that show the cost in California is closer to twenty-thousand dollars. There are some rebates and tax incentives to offset costs. Some rebates have been suspended because of excessive demand. The upgrades can also trigger tax reassessments, but officials say it’s necessary to meet the state’s climate goals in transitioning away from fossil fuels.
