Woman Fighting to Keep Pigs as Emotional Support Animals

(Oxnard, CA) — A woman from Oxnard, California is fighting to keep her two pigs as emotional support animals. The woman says the pigs help her deal with depression and anxiety. But, Oxnard’s city ordinance on emotional support animals doesn’t extend to pigs. And, it’s illegal to keep pigs as pets in the city. The woman is trying to change that, especially since her pigs are now at a farm in Moorpark. She recently started boarding them there after a neighbor complained and the city forced her to move them. She’s hoping to be granted an exemption to Oxnard’s rules since she uses the pigs as emotional support animals, rather than simply as pets.
