California Legislature Passes Child Sex Trafficking Law After Initially Blocking Bill

The California legislature has passed a bill to make child sex trafficking a serious felony. After a controversial debate this year, SB 14 is now headed to the Governor’s desk after passing the state senate and assembly with unanimous votes.

Democrats blocked the bill this summer over criminal justice concerns, but after public backlash, the bill moved forward and has now passed.

If signed, it would make child sex trafficking a serious felony and eligible for California’s Three Strikes Law, with an exception for victims impacted by the crime.
