Tax Filing Deadline Nears for Californians Affected By Last Winter’s Storms

The countdown is on for Californians who have yet to file their taxes. The deadline to file last year’s federal and state income taxes is on October 16.

The six-month extension from the normal April deadline is for residents in 51 California counties that were affected by the severe storms in December and January.

The change was meant to give them more time to claim a deduction for a disaster loss.
