A new study reveals how much money people need to retire comfortably in California. According to data collected by Go Banking Rates, a retiree would need a little more than 90 thousand dollars per year to live comfortably in the Golden State.
That would leave a 20 percent buffer after paying for food, shelter, transportation, healthcare, utilities, and other essential expenses.
California is not the most expensive place to enjoy retirement. A retiree in Hawaii will need 121 thousand per year to live comfortably.
The least expensive retirement state is Mississippi where you can get by on 55 grand.
