The attorney for the man accused of attacking the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says his client was down a conspiracy theory rabbit hole.
In a San Francisco court Thursday, the defense attorney for David DePape conceded his client attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer, but added DePape’s actions were part of outlandish theories — including A-list actors raping kids and the influence of billionaire George Soros.
Prosecutors say DePape sought to confront the former Speaker. The trial will continue and DePape faces life behind bars if convicted on federal charges.
