Another prosecutor is suing her employer, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon. Deputy District Attorney Amy Pellman-Pentz alleges Gascon withheld a decision to not file charges in a high-profile use-of-force case for political purposes.
Pellman-Pentz says that in doing so, Gascon impacted the re-election bid of former Sheriff Alex Villanueva. The D.A.’s office has not commented on the suit.
Pellmen-Pentz spent three years with the Justice System Integrity Division, which reviews complaints alleging government corruption and improper use of force by law enforcement.
