Millions Expected To Travel For Thanksgiving Holiday

By road, rail or runway, millions of Americans are traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday. The TSA expects this week to be one of the busiest travel periods of the year, but this traveler flying out of the Oakland International Airport refuses to lose her cool if things go awry.

The peak travel window is Tuesday and Wednesday. According to Triple-A, nearly five million people are expected to pass through airports for the holiday week.

That’s a more than six-percent jump from last year and the most since 2005. Experts credit the increase to the drop in air fares and fewer COVID concerns.

The roads will be packed as well, with nearly 50 million Americans driving 50 miles or more to their Thanksgiving destination. Amtrak expects close to a million to ride the rails this week.
