Black Lives Matter is launching a lawsuit against the Los Angeles Police Department to stop what the group calls violent arrests. BLM organizers say the department’s policies are unconstitutional, specifically when violent tactics are used during traffic stops to investigate possible stolen vehicles.

The lawsuit claims the department uses outdated or wrong information when running license plate checks, which leads to innocent people getting roughed up and even having guns pointed at them. BLM says these stops are disproportionately targeted at the Black community.
