The number of people living on the streets of Los Angeles could be ready to increase dramatically. Despite the efforts by the City and County to temporarily house homeless people and spending billions of dollars to do so, local leaders expect the problem to get worse.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass says the number of homeless people will increase for several reasons, including evictions and the end of pandemic aid for low-income households. Bass’ “Inside Safe” program claims they have provided temporary shelter for about 21-thousand people, which is about 38 percent of the City’s total homeless population.
