Former President Donald Trump holds a commanding lead in New Hampshire over his GOP opponents, according to a Suffolk University/NBC 10 Boston/Boston Globe tracking poll.

Trump, who scored a record-setting victory in the Iowa caucus, leads former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley in the new poll 50%-34%, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis a distant third at 5%.

The survey of 500 likely Republican primary voters comes ahead of New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary, Tuesday, Jan. 23, where a shrinking field will compete. Conservative entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy suspended his campaign after a disappointing fourth place finish and endorsed Trump.

Haley plans to compete vigorously in New Hampshire, where she hopes to be more successful with the state’s independent voters.

“When you look at how well we’re doing in New Hampshire and in South Carolina and beyond, I can safely say tonight Iowa made this Republican primary a two-person race,” she said.

The Suffolk poll, conducted Jan. 15-16, has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.
