Newsom administration is reminding pharmacists, major drug companies and health plans in the state that current California law them to provide requires access, with or without parental consent.

Governor Gavin Newsom says they “are making sure health care providers are following the law and that Californians know their rights.”

A recent report from UCLA finds only 50-percent of pharmacies surveyed allowed over-the-counter emergency contraception to minor.

Attorney General Rob Bonta says that is a clear violation of state law. The administration is also issuing a consumer alert, informing minors of their rights.
