A new report finds an increase of California Highway Patrol officers in the San Francisco Bay Area is having an impact. Sting operations are bringing down more and more suspected car thieves.
In the last month alone, statistics show having more CHP officers in and around Oakland has led to the arrests of 168 people and the recovery of 360 stolen vehicles.
Officials also say cooperation between local law enforcement agencies there is leading to more criminal arrests as well.
