A new billboard is going up in Sacramento with a sobering reminder about the dangers of fentanyl. The billboard along busy Interstate-5 will feature the faces of 24 people lost to fentanyl poisoning.

The group “Drug Induced Homicide” is organizing the project, calling for families to share their stories of losing loved ones to the drug.

The families say they want accountability, but also to warn others, so they don’t suffer the same tragedy. Many fentanyl overdoses happen when people believe they’re taking one drug but it’s actually been spiked with fentanyl.

The campaign organizers say the billboard serves as a warning so people will know the risk. It will be up for one month on southbound I-5.
