The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors has given the green light to its guaranteed income program. The Family First Sacramento pilot program will assist about 200 low-income families and give them $725 every month for a year.
It’s aimed at fostering family stability and self-sufficiency specifically for African American and Native American families with children zero to five years old.
The program will first serve families in Valley High, the Florin area, North Sacramento, Del Paso Heights, and Arden Arcade areas. Families will be selected by lottery and payments are slated to start by July 2024.
