New Report Says California One of the Most Dangerous States in US

California ranks fifth in the country for violent crime rate and property crime rate, with a 1 in 200 chance of being a victim of violent crime. According to Forbes, New Hampshire is the safest state to live in, while New Mexico is the riskiest.

California ranked fifth with a violent crime rate of 4.99 per 1,000 residents; a property crime rate of 23.43 per 1,000 residents; and the chances of becoming a victim of a violent crime at 1 in 200.

The five most dangerous states, according to the ranking, are:

  • Arkansas
  • Louisiana
  • Colorado
  • California
