People are expected to spend less on Easter this year.  The National Retail Federation predicts spending will total $22.4 billion dollars or $177 per person.  That would be a seven percent decline from last year.

That’s not considering the cost of eggs this year, which are often used for both meals and decorating around the holiday. The average cost of a dozen grade A large eggs was about $2.99 in February, according to numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, up from $1.59 three years ago in February 2021, and up from $2.52 just a month prior in January 2024.

To make matters worse, the price of cocoa also surged, meaning you could be paying more for chocolate candy and treats. Cocoa prices have gone up more than 100% since January.
