A new public safety measure is set to take effect in San Francisco. San Francisco voters approved Proposition E in March, allowing police officers to access modern technology and tools like drones and license plate readers to better equip them on the job.
The measure also changes rules to increase the number of officers on the streets. The measure goes into effect on April 12th.
Ahead of that Mayor London Breed says the latest crime numbers this year continue to improve. In the first quarter of the year, January 1st through March 31st, property crime is down 32-percent and violent crime is down 14-percent compared to the first quarter of 2023.
