Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon is accused of dismissing a blockbuster election tampering case for political purposes.  That’s the conclusion of Gascon’s own prosecutor, who filed a claim against Gascon.  Deputy District Attorney John Lewin, who has also filed an unrelated claim against Gascon, says the D.A. is definitely culpable in this case.

The case revolves around election data firm Konnech, which was accused of illegally sharing election details with China in 2022. The company’s CEO faced criminal charges, and Prosecutor Eric Neff was put on the case. After conservative legal advocacy groups applauded the charges, Gascon dismissed the case, prompting Neff to file a claim, saying what Gascon did was illegal.

Neff was put on administrative leave. This month, he was reinstated, but he says, in retaliation for filing a claim against his boss, Gascon, he was moved from the Political Corruption Unit to a low-level job.  It remains to be seen if Neff will file a civil complaint against Gascon.
