California Representative Kevin Kiley plans to introduce a bill to stop federal funding for the troubled California High-Speed Rail project, which has faced significant delays and cost issues.
The project has already received six-point-eight-billion dollars in federal funds and is seeking an additional eight billion. Kiley’s bill would prevent any more federal support. The 2008 project was projected to cost 33-billion dollars.
The latest estimate is between 88-and-a-half and 128 billion. Kiley previously supported the Transportation Appropriations Bill which includes funding to improve the condition of California roads and infrastructure while eliminating any more funds for the rail project.
Representative Kevin Kiley says nothing is completed and no passengers have been transported.
