The FBI says the man they believe was behind Saturday’s deadly explosion outside a Southern California fertility clinic was a “nihilist” and it was an act of terror. Assistant Director in Charge at the FBI’s Los Angeles office Akil Davis says it took time to positively ID Guy Edward Bartkus because of the force of the blast in Palm Springs.
They are calling the 25-year-old from Twentynine Palms a “nihilist” — someone who believes that “existence is without meaning, or value,” but they are not releasing an official motive. He was the only person to die from the blast. The people injured in the explosion are all out of the hospital.
