Authorities say it was a grenade that detonated in last Friday’s deadly explosion at a L-A County Sheriff’s Department training facility. Three veteran detectives were killed in the blast, which happened as the men moved explosives in the facility’s parking lot. The grenade was found at a Santa Monica apartment complex — left there by a previous tenant.
The three men killed were identified as detectives Joshua Kelley-Eklund, Victor Lemus, and William Osborn. They were members of the Special Enforcement Bureau’s Arson Explosives Detail.
