UPDATE: President Trump says conservative activist Charlie Kirk is dead after a shooting on a college campus in Utah.
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” Trump wrote on Wednesday afternoon. “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

Charlie Kirk is survived by his wife Erika and their two children.
UVU spokesperson Scott Trotter released a statement saying the suspect is not yet in custody.
“On September 10, 2025, at 12:20 a single shot rang out in the quad near the food court on the Utah Valley University Orem Campus as Mr. Charlie Kirk began speaking at his planned rally. We can confirm that Mr. Kirk was shot, but we don’t know his condition. The suspect is not in custody. Police are still investigating Campus is closed for the rest of the day.”

PREVIOUS: Political activist and media personality Charlie Kirk has been shot at a Turning Point rally at Utah Valley University near Provo. Video posted on social media appears to show Kirk being shot in the neck. It happened during a Q&A with students. The university said the shot was fired from a nearby building. Other footage shows a large crowd scattering at the outdoor event. A suspect is reportedly in custody.
On Truth Social, President Trump said we must all pray for Kirk and called him a great guy from to bottom.
Kirk had been scheduled to appear at Utah Valley University on Wednesday as part of his American Comeback Tour, with another stop at Utah State University later this month.
