Today is the last day to register if you want to vote in the special election. While October 20th is the deadline for registration, the election will be on November 4th. The statewide election is to decide Proposition 50. The proposed constitutional amendment was placed on the ballot by the state legislature. If passed, it would allow for a new Congressional map that favors Democrats. Opponents of Prop 50 say California should not follow Texas’ example. Supporters of Prop 50 say balancing out the new Texas map with a new California map keeps Congress more competitive.
