The Trump Administration is preparing a plan that could allow new offshore oil drilling along California’s coast for the first time in decades. A draft five-year proposal reviewed by The Washington Post outlines six potential lease sales between 2027 and 2030, along with expanded drilling areas in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico. The move would overturn restrictions in place since the 1980s. California officials are pledging to challenge the plan. The proposal is still subject to review and public comment.
