Congressman Eric Swalwell is reportedly close to launching a campaign for California governor. The Democrat who represents parts of the Bay Area will officially announce his campaign soon. The report comes after a fundraising page for Swalwell appeared online.
Back in 2019, Swalwell ended a long-shot bid for the presidency that had been dogged by fundraising challenges and a failure to register in the polls.
In 2020, Axios reported that a suspected Chinese spy developed extensive ties with local and national politicians, including Congressman Eric Swalwell in a suspected political intelligence operation run by China’s main civilian spy agency between 2011 and 2015.
Currently, the U.S. Justice Department opened a probe against Rep. Eric Swalwell for alleged mortgage fraud, according to reports.
