California has lost jobs for at least four straight months. The latest data is from September, showing the state lost a net of 45-hundred jobs. The unemployment rate also rose a tenth of a percent to five-point-six percent. That was the highest rate of any state in the nation. The national unemployment rate in September was four-point-four percent. The release of unemployment data is delayed by a few months due to the historic 43-day federal government shutdown.
