Waymo is facing new criticism about safety after a recent incident in Los Angeles. A woman was about to step into one of the self-driving robotaxis, when she found a man hiding in the trunk. It happened earlier this week, near MacArthur Park. In a video, the man can be heard saying “they” put him in the trunk, but doesn’t say who. Police were called but made no arrests, saying no crime was committed. Earlier this month, another Waymo vehicle with a passenger inside drove through an active police standoff in Los Angeles. Cops had their guns drawn on a person lying on the ground as the vehicle passed just feet away.
