Some Southern California residents are facing the possibility of having to evacuate right before Christmas. Most areas within the Palisades, Sunset and Hurst fire burn scars are under evacuation warnings through eleven o’clock Thursday night. The National Weather Service says a major rainstorm arriving tonight will bring an extreme risk of dangerous mud and debris flows on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Most of Los Angeles and Ventura counties are facing an extreme risk of flooding as well, triggering flood watches. Through Saturday night, three to six inches of rain could fall in the valleys and along the coast. The foothills and mountains could see up to 12 inches of rain, with rainfall rates of at least an inch per hour at times. The heaviest rain is expected late tonight into tomorrow.
