President Trump says the U.S. will be “running” Venezuela following the capture of President Nicolas Maduro. The President says Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth will be leading Venezuela until a safe transitional government can be established. He would not commit to American military “boots on the ground.” Trump said he wants Venezuela to be independent, but its infrastructure needs to be repaired and that will take some time. Trump says Rubio has talked with the current vice president of Venezuela, who was hand-picked by Maduro, and she’s agreed to work with the U.S. He said American oil companies will be fixing the damaged Venezuelan infrastructure in a partnership to make the Venezuelan people independent and rich.
