Officials now confirm the Los Angeles Fire Department’s after-action report on the Palisades Fire was edited. On Tuesday, LAFD Chief Jaime Moore said earlier versions of the report were edited to reduce criticism of department leadership’s handing of the fire. Moore was not chief at the time. A few months after the fire, the head of the L.A. Fire Commission asked then-interim LAFD chief Ronnie Villanueva about the report. He said a working draft was sent to Mayor Karen Bass’ office for “refinements.” It’s still unclear what those “refinements” were.
