Governor Gavin Newsom says he was denied the chance to speak at a premiere event in Davos and blames the Trump administration for canceling his appearance. An on-stage interview with Newsom at the World Economic Forum, scheduled for Wednesday, was abruptly canceled just hours before it was scheduled to happen. His office says the White House applied pressure to block the appearance — a charge the administration denies. The venue where Newsom was scheduled to appear is run by an American corporation. Newsom did appear for an extended interview on stage with the publication Semafore where he talked about what he calls the Trump administration’s reckless foreign policy. He also took jabs at Republicans and businesses he says are bowing to the president’s will.
