A California lawmaker has introduced a bill that would bar people who worked for ICE under the Trump administration from being hired as teachers or police officers. Assemblymember Anamarie Ávila Farias, a Democrat from Martinez, says the measure would apply to all public schools, UC and CSU campuses, and local or state police departments. Supporters say the bill protects communities and public trust, while critics warn it will limit qualified applicants. The proposal now moves through committee consideration.
