Republicans have hope after seeing the results of a new poll in the race to replace California Governor Gavin Newson. Newsom is term-limited in the deep-blue state, and a crowded Democrat field has bolstered Republicans. According to Emerson College Polling and Inside California Politics, conservative political commentator Steve Hilton is ahead of all Republican and Democrat candidates, with 17% support. Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, another Republican, are tied for second place, at 14%. Democrats are expected to coalesce around one candidate before the Golden State’s June 2nd primary.
