The California Secretary of State’s Office is investigating reports of petition fraud in San Francisco. A videographer says he recently documented signature collectors paying people. Video shows people being paid five dollars each to sign initiative petitions under other people’s names. Signature collectors also appeared to provide the names and addresses of actual registered voters. The petitions that were signed are connected with at least three ballot campaigns, including the billionaire-backed effort to shut down California’s proposed billionaire tax.
