A woman is recovering after a bear encounter in a foothill neighborhood of Monrovia. Officials say the woman was walking her dog this morning when a bear approached her. The animal reportedly swiped its claw and struck the back of the woman’s knee. She was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and is expected to recover. Wildlife officials responded to the area and are reminding residents that bears can appear in neighborhoods near wildlife habitat.
