Republican Senator Josh Hawley is introducing the No Pensions for Congressional Predators Act. As the name implies, the legislation seeks to prohibit members of Congress who have been convicted of felony sex crimes from receiving their federal pensions. The proposal comes as other lawmakers call for Congress to revoke the pension of Congressman Eric Swalwell, who is facing allegations of sexual misconduct. Hawley said he is introducing the bill to put an end to the loophole and “ensure that lawmakers are never compensated with taxpayer dollars after such a breach of trust.”
