Gavin Newsom’s political action committee spent over $1.5 million buying roughly 67,000 copies of his memoir, accounting for about two-thirds of its 97,400 total sales, according to campaign finance filings. The purchases helped push “Young Man in a Hurry” onto the The New York Times bestseller list, drawing scrutiny as Newsom’s national profile rises ahead of a potential 2028 presidential run. The PAC, Campaign for Democracy, promoted the book in November by offering it to donors who contributed any amount. Filings show it made two payments totaling more than $1.5 million to Porchlight Book Company.
