California Governor Gavin Newsom says President Donald Trump has directed the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate both him and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom. Newsom made the allegation in a video released Monday morning, where he sharply criticized what he described as an abuse of presidential power. According to the governor, the Justice Department has launched what he called a politically motivated and “weaponized” investigation targeting his family. Newsom also claimed that federal officials have recently questioned family friends and former employees, saying investigators appear to be “looking for a crime” rather than pursuing specific allegations. He further accused federal authorities of misusing grand jury procedures as part of the effort. During the video statement, Newsom urged Trump to leave his wife and family out of what he characterized as a personal and political vendetta. The governor concluded by pledging to continue fighting what he described as lawlessness, corruption, and the misuse of government power.
