Federal authorities say a California resident was among multiple suspects arrested in connection with an alleged plot to attack the UFC event held on the White House grounds this past weekend.
According to the FBI, investigators disrupted what officials described as “planned attacks” targeting the high-profile UFC Freedom 250 event before they could be carried out. FBI Director Kash Patel said multiple individuals are now in custody following a multi-state operation.
Court documents indicate the alleged plot involved suspects from several states, including California, Ohio, Missouri, and Nebraska. Authorities say the group discussed using explosive-laden drones to create panic among attendees before carrying out additional attacks. Investigators reportedly uncovered the plans after monitoring encrypted communications and receiving information from family members concerned about one suspect’s behavior.
While federal officials have not yet released details about the California suspect, the arrests prevented what authorities believe could have been a mass-casualty attack at one of the most heavily attended events ever staged at the White House. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are expected as court records continue to be unsealed.
