Photos taken during Friday evening rush hour in Santa Monica show several youths riding unsafely in a moving Waymo self-driving vehicle. According to a witness who was driving behind the car, the teens were hanging out of the windows and sitting on the open window ledges while the vehicle continued through traffic. The witness estimated that two boys in the back appeared to be around 15 years old, while a younger boy in the front seat looked to be about 10. She also reported that one of the teens appeared to be taking selfies with a cellphone during the ride. Concerned for their safety, the witness said she and other motorists repeatedly called out to the boys, urging them to get back inside the vehicle, but their warnings were ignored. The woman said she later contacted Waymo and was told the company had the capability to stop the vehicle remotely, though it was not shut down. Waymo has not publicly commented on the incident.
